Governors

Welcome to the Governors' section!

Keith Tulley

I have over five years experience of being a parent governor previously with Shoreham First School & Buckingham Community Middle School. I was the Chair of the Temporary Governing Body that helped make all the arrangements for the merger of Buckingham CMS & Kingston Buci First School to create Buckingham Park Primary School.

I am delighted to be the Chair Of Governors for our school working with a team of governors dedicated to supporting & challenging the school to achieve the very best for the children. I have already had three children go through Buckingham.

I am lucky that my employer HSBC supports me with time off to carry out my governor duties & I get into school at least once a week. At HSBC I look after a team of 43 people serving some of our smaller business clients & I like to think that a number of the skills that I use in my working life are transferable to helping out in the school environment.

I am a huge fan of Shoreham as a place to live & am very pleased to be able to get involved in such an important part of our community.

I have been a governor for over ten years now at three schools, two junior and one senior. Over this time I have found the whole experience demanding, challenging, but most of all enjoyable. I work for BAA Ltd who operate seven airports in the UK.

My background is in Engineering, Electronics and IT systems, over the years with BAA I have had a number of key team roles. Based at Gatwick and Heathrow looking after the systems infrastructure across BAA, this means travelling around all the airports regularly.

I really enjoy helping in the school environment, the areas where I can add most value to the school are in finance, premises and organisation. It’s nice to be able to give something back to the school in these very important areas.

Since becoming a school governor in 2008, I have become heavily involved in the premises side of the school where my past property management skills are fully utilised and appreciated. Balancing the schools statutory requirements along with the needs of the children means the budget is always a challenge!

In the outside world, I am a mother of 2 with 1 child currently attending Buckingham and another who left last year. I work for a London property consultancy business as a surveyor specialising in aviation. My role takes me to all the UK airports where I represent aviation companies on all property related matters.

I have a busy life, but enjoy my role as governor. It's good to be involved and feel that you are giving something back to the school and most of all making a difference to the environment where your child spends such a high proportion of time.

I joined the temporary governing body in 2008 and for the past year I have been a Parent Governor for Buckingham Park Primary School. My younger son is currently in Year 3 and my eldest son also attended the School before moving on to Shoreham Academy.

I am a chartered town planner and work for Brighton & Hove City Council. I have been involved in the development of a number of major development projects in the city and have a great enthusiasm for promoting sustainable design and architecture.

I have enjoyed being a governor and have been greatly impressed with the commitment of all those involved in the school’s success.

I chair the Staffing sub-group and attend the Resources Committee.

As a parent with sons in Years 1 and 2, I was always keen to be involved with the school and being a governor has given me that opportunity.
It is fascinating to have an insight on the many aspects of running the school. I feel privileged to be able to provide input and support where needed. I am keen to see Buckingham Park Primary continue to develop as an excellent facility for teaching young children in our area.
As well as being a parent, I am self-employed as a Personal Trainer. My expertise in health and fitness is utilised by the Healthy Schools Initiative. I am on three committees: Resources, Travel Planning and Premises. I also enjoy working on FOBS.

I have been a parent governor for 3 years and was part of the temporary governing body which helped form the new Buckingham park primary school. I thoroughly enjoy the challenge of being part of the development of our school and enjoy seeing it go from strength to strength as it evolves.

I have worked for over 20 years in the banking industry and have been involved in training, project development and now customer advising.

I sit on the Quality and Standards sub committee, PTA and healthy schools working party.

I have lived on Lancing Beach for 23 years with my husband Keith. I have one daughter, 3 granddaughters and 2 great grandchildren.

I first became an Adur District County Councillor 12 years ago and a County Councillor 2 years ago. I serve on several committees at county but my main ones are Health, Children and Young People, Youth and Adults. I am a member of the newly set up Children & Young People Centre in Lancing. I am also Vice Chairman of the South and Mid Sussex branch of the NSPCC, also Chairman of Adur Twinning Association, so I spend most of my spare time fund raising.

I believe in investing in our children and their future.

I became a school Governor in January 2011, my interest followed information received from The School Governors' One-Stop-Shop, an independent charity dedicated to recruiting volunteers to serve on school governing bodies.

Having spent all but two of my 54 years living in Shoreham and enjoying my own schooling at Buckingham Road (as it was known then) I wanted to give something back to the area that has served myself and my family so well over this time. What better opportunity than to support the local school which is at the centre of the community and the future of Shoreham.

Most of my working life has been spent in a Customer Service background working for Southern Water. However, for the last two years I have been engaged to look at the CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) within the business, in particular organising charity fund raising events and promoting staff volunteer support within the community.

I hope that my knowledge and experience in these areas will be able to support the school in as many ways as possible and I look forward to helping to make a difference.

I became a parent governor in January 2011. My daughter joined Buckingham Park Primary in September 2009; she currently loves her time in Pelicans (Year 1/2) class.

Since leaving school (many moons ago) I have been employed with various childcare and education providers. I have spent over nine years in a regulatory role working for Ofsted as a Children's Inspector, and in recent months I have worked with a secondary college and large nursery chain assessing the quality of care and education being provided.

I am very passionate about improving the outcomes for all children and am keen to help facilitate this at Buckingham Park Primary School. I am really looking forward to commencing my term as Parent Governor.

I became a governor in October 2010. My eldest daughter is currently in Year 2 with my youngest daughter due to start in 2013. My daughters first year in reception was such a positive experience. I wanted to be able to have an input into the school to help move the school forward for the future.

I am a company director for the family bookbinding company based in Hove. I am responsible for 43 members of staff and have to ensure the smooth day to day running of the business.

Whilst in education I lived in Shoreham. On settling down and starting a family I returned to Shoreham 10 years ago as it's a perfect place to raise a family.

I have been asked to sit on the quality and standards committee in which I hope to learn more about the curriculum and general running of the school.

I was appointed to the governing body in October 2011 as a Staff Governor.  I have been office manager at Buckingham Park since 2008 and prior to this at Buckingham Middle for 10 years.

I live locally, have two grown up children and two grandchildren.

I have been a school governor previously when my children were at school and have also worked as Clerk to the Governors therefore I think I can bring a lot of experience and enthusiasm to the governing body.

I am looking forward to the next four years and the opportunity to expand my knowledge and experience.

I became a governor in November 2011.  I have two children in school, with a third due to start in 2013. My eldest started the day the school amalgamated and it has been wonderful to see the school go from strength to strength.

Prior to having children, I worked in public relations for one of the world's largest PR consultancies. Initially I worked in lobbying, helping clients navigate their way through government processes so that they knew how to best influence policy decisions. Then I moved to public affairs, analysing clients' profiles and finding ways to improve their reputations.  Latterly I worked in internal communications, fine tuning the consultancy's communications with its own UK-based employees.

This type of work requires an analytical mind, systematic approach and attention to detail that was fostered during my degree in Aeronautical Engineering.

I hope to be able to bring these skills to assist the school's development in as many areas as possible. In particular, I look forward to working with the school on continuing to improve its communications.

My children are enjoying such a positive experience at Buckingham that I feel honoured to be able to contribute to the school.
